2013 Pastor Sperb's Installation

On Sunday, August 18 the congregation of Faith Lutheran Church warmly welcomed their new pastor, Reverend Christopher N. Sperb. The church also embraced his wife, Andreza, and their two small children, Estela and Silas. Rev. Dr. David R. Maack from the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod performed the ceremony, aided by 17 supporting pastors. Rev. J. Thomas Foelber, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Baltimore, delivered the message, taken from John 15:1-11. “Stay connected with Jesus, the vine, and you, the Pastor and congregation, the branches, will together bare much fruit through the means of grace, the Word, baptism, and Holy Communion.” A reception/dinner followed in the church’s fellowship hall.

Pastor Sperb is a native of Brazil, a pastor’s son, and speaks both English and Portuguese. He studied Theology at the ULBRA-Lutheran University of Brazil, and at Seminario Concordia (Concordia Seminary) in Sao Leopoldo, Brazil. He earned his Master’s degree in Counseling at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He was ordained and served for two years at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Curitiba, Brazil. From 2007 to the present, Pastor Sperb was the lead instructor in theology and the sole pastor on staff at the Baltimore Lutheran School here in Maryland. He has a strong interest in working with young people and a passion for counseling. The Faith family feels blessed to have Pastor Sperb as their shepherd, leading them as they strive to fulfill their central mission, “Invite Others to Know Jesus.” Pictured are Pastor Sperb holding Estela, and Andreza, with Silas.
