Cooperative Outreaches
In addition to outreaches particular to Faith Lutheran, groups
and individuals from Faith also band together with others to help in
our community and beyond. For those who are interested, there are
many ways to join in efforts to assist materially and spiritually for
those who are in need. Below are a few of our efforts to share
God’s love:
Local
There are many opportunities for helping locally. Faith
Lutheran participates in the schedule of Sunday services at
Transitions Healthcare in Sykesville, with several members from Faith
Lutheran planning and leading a worship service once a month. Other
members from Faith take part in the Good News Jail & Prison
Ministry, visiting and conducting worship services for men and women
in Carroll County’s detention center.
Groups and individuals from Faith Lutheran are involved with
our neighbors in various “helping hands” projects
throughout Carroll County, such as Habitat for Humanity, providing
food, clothing, shelter and more for those in need.
National
Each summer, young people and their leaders from Faith
Lutheran join with other churches around the county to participate in
the Lutheran Servant Event. These teens, college students and adult
leaders grow spiritually and bond with each other as they travel to
areas of need within the United States to repair homes for the
elderly, disabled and others who are unable to do so for themselves.
International
Faith Lutheran is a supporter of My Refuge Christian
Ministries in Belize, Central America. We often provide and drive
busloads of clothing and needed materials to their location in Belize
City for distribution to the poor in that area. Faith’s members
also travel to Belize to distribute eyeglasses, complete building
construction and improvements at their Christian radio station
compound, and conduct marriage seminars, Vacation Bible School and
puppet shows for the Belizean people. Our mission teams, including
children, teens and adults, have enjoyed exploring that area of the
continent, including adventures such as “cave tubing” on
their “r & r” days.
Faith supports other national and international mission
efforts through monetary contributions and prayer support.
