Youth/Students
As children grow in age and maturity they have the
opportunity to learn and grow in their relationship with God.
This happens both in formal ways, such as Sunday school and mid-week classes, and in informal ways, such as
youth group and service projects
Sunday Morning
Sunday morning finds youth participating in worship and Sunday
school classes, digging deep into God’s Word with studies
designed especially for them.
Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 meet separately for Sunday School. High
school students (grades 9 through 12) meet together for Sunday
school, exploring complex topics important to their lives through the
lens of God’s Word.
Students in sixth, seventh & eighth grade may serve as
candle lighters (acolytes) for worship services.
Mid-week Classes for Youth
For students in seventh and eighth grades, confirmation
classes offer an in-depth exploration of the major tenets of the
Christian faith and Lutheran understanding of topics such as church
creeds, the Ten Commandments and the Lord’s Prayer. Classes
culminate in an opportunity for students to confirm their faith in
front of their families and the church.
Youth Group
Youth groups for middle school and
senior high school meet separately. The groups are led by church
members and parent volunteers.
Each youth group offers the opportunity for spiritual growth
(Bible studies, group devotions) in addition to fun activities,
special trips, events and worthwhile projects.
Service Projects
There are many opportunities for
service. For those youth who want to get involved locally, they may
help with anything from assisting nursing home residents with Sunday
afternoon worship services to leading a group a children in Vacation
Bible School.
Those who want a more intense summer experience may choose to
be involved in the Servant Event. A group of teens, college students
and adults spend a fun and rewarding time traveling to areas of need
within the United States where they repair and refurbish homes of
people who lack resources to do so themselves.
In 2009, a group of teens and parents from Faith traveled to
Belize to assist with building construction and outreach projects,
such as providing eyeglasses and a Vacation Bible School program to
the people of the area. In addition to growing closer to God and
forming relationships with new friends in Belize, the teens were able
to enjoy some incredible adventures, such as cave tubing, while on
the trip.
